Perhaps it's even the work of engineers from another manufacturer "pitching" a product to Altec.
I have a pair of Altec 1905A that are actually electrically Klark Teknik DN-405's, everything inside them is KT branded. The only differences are physical, the KT is a single rack space unit, while the Altec is 2 space.
